A new view on education

When I was thinking about my final paper I thought about how different this class has been from the majority of my other classes here at CSULA. While I feel like I have had a great education here this was the first time a professor really wanted to here what we think! I love the freedom that we have been given, but at the same time I think I've learned more about real life writing than ever before. The past 10 or so weeks have taught me that education can be what we make it!

I think out of all the Sociology teachers/classes, this was the most fun, educating, REAL to the core, and not a ONE WAY podium teaching style.

Brings hope that this major will not go extinct

  2. I definitely agree with both of you. This class was very intimate and real. I really enjoyed it. it made me think deeply about not only life but me and how I see the world along with the people in it. I honestly think I am more present then ever and I think part of the reason is this class. I am also happier because I am starting to approach things differently. That is due to the knowledge I have gained in this class. I think its incredible that the professor takes a non judgmental approach as she knows us through only numbers not by our faces. Although, I have gotten a couple bad grades on the essay, I have gotten better through tough criticism that is only given because she cares!

Yay for awesome classes like this one! ;)

  3. Definitely Agree! though it was akward at times for me, just for the fact that i had never been in a class setting like this. where the Professor takes a differnt approach in her teaching style. Professor Tabor has let us be "real" in our writing and less "studenty" as she says =)

  4. I agree.. I've just taken another class like this.. "Creative Writing"... and she as well as professor Tabor have taught me that their so much more than writing a boring paper.. you need to give it a lil flavor something that makes that paper you.. just that liberty that Tabor gives her students to express and describe the way the view the world is great.. because at the end of the day we all have diffrent thought and views of the world around us.. that is what truly helps us learn from ourself and others..

  5. I was stressed out at first because I'm not used exposing my inner person. Writing the first two papers actually gave me anxiety. I am so glad I took this class because it has helped me view life from a different perspective. It has also helped me deal with issues I've been supressing for so long. I did not expect any of this to happen in this class!

I wonder if anyone in the TTH AM class besides me attended the Korean concert last night. It was wonderful wonderful wonderful.

  7. For the first time ever this class allowed me to write in freedom, and from now on approach every paper in my own unique way. (in all my classes) :) it takes a great mind and open heart like MT to appreciate everyone's views....
