I am a little bummed out because I recently found out I was not accepted into the MSW program at USC or CSULA. Actually, I was put on the waiting list which means that when a person who was accepted decides not to attend, I will be considered. Maybe I still have a chance but I can't help wondering why I did not get officially accepted. My GPA is high and my recommendations are good. I am not giving up, if I don't get in through the waiting list, I am going to reapply next year. Did anyone else apply to graduate school?

  1. I have yet to apply. Don't you need to do a bridge course? And if you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA? Mine is pretty low. The only chance I have of getting into any grad school is to stay in the CSU system... which is a bummer because I'll need to take 2 quarters or more worth of bridge courses and an entry exam before I can even be considered.

  2. I did not have to take a bridge course because I took statistics two years ago. My GPA is 3.7. I know at some universities they require the GRE but CSULA and USC does not.

  4. Again I am reminded of the first circle we had in the Thurs. am class. When I was applying to transfer, I didn't get in anywhere but CSCULA. At first I was really upset, but then I realized I didn't have to make any decisions about where to attend. The Universe will never close a door without opening a window somewhere. You didn't come this far to be dropped on your ass now. It's the Universe's timing, not ours. Besides, all hope is not lost-perhaps someone who was accepted will get a better offer and a space will open up for you. You never know, things come up all the time. Don't lose the faith just yet!

  5. I have a friend that got into USC with a 2.9. So I don't know how schools go about selecting their students. I was disappointed for while but I'm fine now. I'm just going to reapply next year. Or mybe I will get lucky and a spot will open up for me. Either way I'm o.k. with it. Thanks for the support!
