Procrastinating...

So I'm on Reddit and what not and I discovered this poet. His name is Christian Bok. I wanted to share some of his work with y'all, check it out:

He also has a book titled, Eunoia, where he uses only one vowel for each poem. Ch 1:

The entire book is viewable online for free here.

His work reminded me of one of my favorite spoken word artists, George Watsky.

That is all. Back to work...

Christina is a very caring librarian.  If you liked her effort yesterday, drop her a thank you note - she will appreciate it.  csheldo [at] exchange [dot] calstatela [dot] edu <-- correct now

Thank you MT!

For taking the extra time to keep us informed and updated :-)

Elements of Style Question

As we move through the 22 rules, some get complex and have versions.  Do you do them all?  No, pick one version of the rule - but be prepared to tell the rule and to tell the exceptions or the variants.
So how do you pick?  Remember that part of your job is to express an interesting Sociological fact or observation, whether book-sociology or sociological patterns out there in the world.  So pick a variant of the rule with which you can express good Sociology.
also remember, you express the sentence you create once incorrectly, then once correctly.

Paper #2 due Thursday

use proper font and 1.25 inch margins and left (only) justified.
TITLE:  when I say to "use title" in the beginning and the end, that typically does not mean to repeat the exact title but, rather, to use a word or phrase that refers back to the title in both the beginning and the end.  Sometimes you might use the entire title, but typically you probably "refer" to it with a word or phrase.

Library ASA format - how are we using it?

CITATIONS:  starting with paper #4, then also paper 5,6,7  at least one citation.
TITLE PAGE:  - we are not using on papers 1-7.  We use one line on page one for title and author and Paper # and date - final paper will have a title page
REFERENCES - put on page 2 for paper 4,5,6,7.  Have an official reference page for final paper.
ABSTRACTS - none until final paper.  It goes atop page 1, properly formatted.
AND ... guess what?  There is no paper #8!  There are just 7 papers and then a Final, cumulative paper due on the final day of class, March 10.

Library day Today, Monday the 18th

Do NOT go to the classroom:  go directly to the Library, north side, Room 1033

Paper Questions

Does anyone else feel like either these questions are too easy or there is a deeper motive behind them?

Wednesday, January 12

How do you explain your behavior

due tomorrow, paper #1.

Assignment Confusion

Am I the only one that is confused about the recent assignment given to us? If anyone here is clear on them, please explain to me. The untis of analysis? What do I do with that. Perhaps I shouldn't have left class until I was clear about them.

Co-dependent

Today would be day two of the morning pages for me. I did not and could not write without music playing in the background. However, I refuse to do anything without first turning on the music because it enhances everything! I'm getting ready to begin the morning pages for today (I just woke up). I'm listening to "The Day the World Went Away" by Nine Inch Nails as we speak.
