When life slams you down.. laugh about it.

In some parts of India, laughter is used as meditation. It relieves stress, being worried, anxiety and depression.

Weird how the human mind and body work.

Everchanging

And there
Amidst the waves and the cloudless skies
That blanket the year before
I watch my life wash ashore

Have you ever been a part of something
That you thought would never end?
And then, of course it did
Have you ever felt the weight inside you
Pulling away inside your skin?
And then something had to give

I just went through a recent breakup. These are the lyrics to a Rise Against song called "Everchanging." My life has changed in a matter of two weeks. I spent a little under 7 years with this person. As our lives were intertwined they took a turn to a path I never thought I would travel. I have been able to do all the things I have been neglecting which makes me feel more alive than ever. I miss him dearly therefore at the same time I feel more dead than ever. I AM currently half alive. I am thankful that my career is waiting for me at the end of this tunnel I am traveling through.

Men...

I really enjoyed the gender movie and found it extremely helpful in explaining to my bf why we simply don't understand one another sometimes! I came across this image and thought it was funny.

Monday, November 7

The ones that make the rest look bad.

There are always songs that are made for or about women. You will not go one day of your life without hearing a song dedicated to a woman, women, or the skills some have. There is no denying that the hip hop genre is often written about women. There are times when I hear a song about "bad" women or "dirty" women. I had never came across this type of woman and always thought that either women are really sneaky or they really don't exist. That is until this past Saturday. I came across my first "dirty" woman. She was beautiful, more beautiful than me I would say. The type of woman that could have any man she desires. Her problem, though, was that she wasn't sure of what she wanted. I counted the amount of men she was hanging out with. To clarify, by hanging out I mean genitals to genitals touching. You're going to have to excuse the picture I just painted, I just want to get the visual across. I could not believe it, 5 different men in a matter of two hours. What was even more shocking was the fact that they were all friends. I thought I've surely heard of a song about a woman like this. It saddened me that such a beautiful woman could let so many men enjoy her beauty. I saw my first woman that makes the rest look bad and a piece of me died. How could something so beautiful not have any value?

Understanding Women

So a friend of mine tries to be funny and sends this to me via Facebook... I thought it was actually pretty interesting  after watching Dr. Tannen's video. All I can say is that it was a sad waste of paper and time putting that book together...lol!

Persepolis

Last night the movie was great, it reminded me of myself growing up. I had many influences in my life; my uncle, my dad, and my older sisters. I listen to punk rock, down with the government and so forth. But really got to me was at the end of the movie when she left and never saw her grandmother again, but never forgot why her grandmother always smelled like flowers. It is something that people always remember their love ones, I remember the times when my sister Cristina would always tickle my feet when I was young. Unfortunately she is no longer with us, she passed away 21 Feb 2000. She was twenty years old just got married on a Saturday got into a car accident on Monday and died on impact from what they told my family. But her love still lives on through me and my other sisters. I now tickle my sons feet like she did and it reminds me of the old days when she use to do it to me.

The circumstance in Iran are not unique. In fact, it was one of many developing countries that where used by the west, specifically the US, to engage in proxy wars with the United Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR), today this country is called Russia. There where millions and millions of victims during the Cold War, while U.S.S.R and the U.S. never engaged in a full scale war they destroyed many countries and their citizenry. So I ask that we not only remember the people of Iran, but remember the people of Vietnam, Nicaragua, El Salvador, North Korea, Afghanistan and Nigeria. The worldly hatred for America has a root cause in our diplomatic methodology of propping dictators, training para military groups to stifle oppositional groups in the expansion of "Democracy"and after they've served their purpose we leave them to put the pieces back together.

Lucky

I was lucky on 27 OCT 2011, because I was able to enroll into three classes for Winter session. Meaning that hopefully I will graduate in June 2012 as planed if I am able to get into my last three classes coming Spring.!!!!!! Almost done!

Officer shootings

I can not stand these news reports about civilians accusing police officers for wrongful deaths. A police officer is trained to shoot if they feel they threaten.
The public mentions it is a racial thing, and the victim was not going to shoot at them, they were just showing the gun.
Or when the officer tells you, " put your hands up", and up put your hands in your pocket, the officer does not know what you have.
Police officers are human, and some have families. The officer wants to get home to his family.
It is not a racial thing or economic problem. Respect the rules and don't test the police officers.

Tannen's video on Conversational Styles

I really appreciated this video because it helped me make sense of so many things. Throughout the video I kept thinking of my past relationship and how I experienced everything she mentioned. What she said at the end really stood with me. If we understand that conversation differs between men and women then we can understand each other and find ways to make our relationships better.

styles and purpose of talking: conversational styles

talk to get closer
talk to establish status
when women say "I'm sorry" they often mean "I'm sorry that happened to you."
when men say "I'm sorry", it puts them in a one-down position (so they say it less often)
Start OUT - and work way IN to a decision
Stat IN (this is what I want) - and work out if need be
rapport talk (get closer) = troubles talk (just to talk)
report talk (announce status) = "fix" a problem (establish status)
teasing (ritual opposition) (boys)
sharing (girls) (when girls fight they really are fighting, not just playing)
PREMISE 1:  IN A COUPLE, ONE IS THE BOSS
PREMISE 2:  IN A COUPLE, BOTH ARE EQUAL

SEE IF YOU CAN TAKE ONE OF THE "8" BELOW AND WEAVE IT INTO TANNEN'S THEME OF CONVERSATIONAL STYLE

8 interesting studies of gender: nature or nurture?

  1. faces or mobiles?  Jack n the Box:  angry or frightened?
  2. "like father"
  3. different ages of the great spurt of brain development
  4. fruit flies and imposed monogamy
  5. "evolutionary imperative"
  6. who talks more?
  7. How do you know when you found the right person?  and how do you know that person loves you?
  8. which part of the brain zings when we see pictures:  right brain = your loved one; left brain = the culturallly "cool"
  9. AND I GUESS #9 WOULD BE:  Many are changing (or trying to change) the rules of 1000s of years within 40 years, e.g., gender neutrality as in this link which is also above
Did anyone else get emotional writing paper #2, I definitely had to take a breather!

Cancers are extremely generous. Soooo all the cancers should bring homemade cookies to class for the film tomorrow : ) No I'm just kidding....unless you all want to :D ......there's no emojicons on here??? :(

Among the Dead

Did anyone happen to go to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery this past Saturday? Well, the cemetery held it's Annual Dia de los Muertos Celebration. It was so fascinating to see all the altars people set up for their loved ones. It was pleasant to walk among the dead and feel a sense of happiness and feeling of everlasting love.

This is so cute!!!

How does this even happen? I wonder if he knew the camels kiss. Or is this a llama?

paper 2

Just wondering, what did students choose for paper # 2?

"Haters"

Why does my "hater" keep tabs on me. If she hates me, then whey does she care what I'm doing? Is there research out there for me to study this odd behavior?

2nd paper

I have just finished my paper at work. Hopefully I wrote a good paper because the last paper I did not do as well as I thought.

The myth of women making less.

I've mentioned in class before that there is a misconception that women make less than men with similar jobs. YOU MUST EXCLUDE GENERATION "BABY BOOMERS" when I make this statement.

I've worked in HR. Trust me. The disparity is on WHICH JOB you are in.
In HR, all the top earners are women. All the directors, vice presidents, presidents of the division are women. So is the case in finance, administration, legal, and operations.

The difference? Engineering and video game developers. (Based on the company I worked for)

Mechanical and Organic Societies

Some of us were talking after class about this distinction and your assignments.  I try to make the writing assignments a combo of Mecahnical and Organic:  Mechanical in that I am a "stickler" about form, composition, BME, and grammar, but organic in that I leave you open about how to approach the topic.
In classes, some of you prefer a "mechanical" approach where EVERYTHING IS CLEAR about EXACTLY what you have to do to get that "A" and some of you dislike an "organic" organization where you get to be free to create as you will.  Think about your "type" - the classes you seek, the major you picked.  These terms can help us see.

The Film

Are we watching the film today? We have placed some responsibility on this student. Goes to show although you do not know someone, trust does exist. We always seem to have more trust in the people we don't know, which makes sense, since we haven't been disappointed yet. right?

Improve my wiritng

Hello everyone, hopefully everyone is having a wonderful weekend.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how I may improve my writing skills. I want to credit people who read out loud in class, your structure in your sentences are very good.
I must admit writing is not my strongest, but I am not giving up.
If you have any help I will gladly appreciate it.

Mother or Father Paper

Thinking about what to right on the next paper has really stirred up some emotions within me. If I had to write about my father I think I would find that a lot easier because he was absent. The respect I have for my mother is certainly not what I have for my father. However, my mother is extremely protective over me and is having a hard time letting go. I love her with all my heart but how she reacts to things can be very frustrating at times.

Seal Beach Shootings

I apologize if this sounds inconsiderate.
My heart goes out to the families affected today, but there are shootings and killings everyday here in south central. Yet we don't get any media news outlet coverage like this. As awful as this may sound, but Welcome to the club. We have homicides every 4.5 hours, drive-by shootings, etc. But if some people get shot in Orange County because of a jealously or marital relations it makes headline news!
Look all I'm saying is that i wish we could receive some attention from the media a little more. I know I'm not the only who feels a little put off by all the attention one rich town is getting. Our gun control is out of hand, my people are dying every day, and we don't get sh*t, but it a travesty if it happens in the O.C.

My condolences to the people of Seal Beach, i wish we could get some condolences in return...

World Population

The one I forgot last night is the most important one: Population.

In the past, there were always classes in "Population and Demographics" - not anymore.
This may be the most important question of our time.

When I was in college, there were 3 billion; today, there are 7 billion. Read that link to discover the max!

Soc 301

Very good topic, mention it to some of my co-workers and I got some answers. One guy actually got mad, two other girls started to cry. After that I stop asking my boss caught me not working.

Is it worth it?

I am tired to the max, I wake up at 4am to go to work in Valencia CA. I come out of work at 4:30pm drive about an hour to CSULA to attend classes at 6pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Classes usually finish around 9:30pm to 10pm. Drive back home to San Fernando CA, another 35min to hopefully see my son awake to say goodnight. Is it worth it? Yes, because I know that my son will be proud of me when I am done with school.

Excited...

Excited to write once again...

a loss in the world of technology and sports

Just last Tuesday we talked about how the new iPhone wasn't living up to its hype and and i wondered how long it would take before Steve Jobs was back at the helm at the apple company. Sadly the news of his passing before the weeks end would put any hopes of him inventing a new gadget we wont be able to live without to rest. May he rest in peace.

In the world of sports Legendary Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis passed away over the weekend. In his prime he pioneered the popularity of the sport of football and was able to see it become a household name. Seen as a controversial figure towards the end of his life many thought that the person who once helped make the sport into a multimillion dollar business would also try to hurt it with frivolous lawsuits and mismanagement of his Raiders organization. Love him or hate him the impact he left on the sport will never be forgotten. "Just Win Baby".

A call for papers on Gender

Sociological Studies of Children and Youth (a volume by Emerald Publishing) announces, "Youth Engagement: The Civic-Political Lives of Children and Youth." Guest editors ... invite the submission of completed papers focused on children and youth's civic and political engagement, broadly conceived.
Possible questions might be: How are youth participating in civic and political socialization projects? How do young people and the adults who work with them define terms like citizenship, democracy and community? How do youth react to adults? ...what it means to be a "citizen" or "community member"? What institutions and structures facilitate or hinder participation and engagement? How do youth respond and relate to institutions and organizations designed to encourage their engagement? How do dynamics of race, class, gender, sexuality and ability shape young people's approaches to engagement?

deadline is Jan 20....less than 30 pages to Sandi Nenga at nengas@southwestern.edu  Contributions will be peer-reviewed. Publication date is spring 2013.

This class sounds hard! That's a lot of writing!
No, no my fellow Sociology/Anthropology students. It is not as bad you think it is. Our class learned a lot this past SPRING. You'll learn more about yourself, how to write better, and use the correct ASA format when writing papers.
You'll also learn to fix simple grammatical errors by the end of the quarter.

Take it easy, there were many of us in her class, and we all walked away happy.
Take a step back, breathe in, breathe out, and enjoy the class ;-)

How's everyone's summer?

Mine? all good in the hood.
questions, comments, concerns?

Wednesday, August 10

It has been a while!

Hi everyone!
It has been two months since I have posted on here. I took a long break and spent some much needed quality time with my son. By the way he turned two in June.
I graduated June 11th 2011. Initially, it was a shock because I could not believe I finally did it. Now it is two months later and it is finally dawning on me that I have a degree. It dawned on me even more when I recived it in the mail last week. So now the question is what am I going to do with it. I have applied to a couple of positions but nothing I am too excited about. I give myself till the end of this month to find something. I have faith!
I kind of miss being in school. I am still trying to get used to being a former student. Even though I dreaded the all nighters during midterms and finals at one time, I have come to appreciate the insanity of it all. Anyway, I am just thinking out loud.

It's Been A While

Hello Everyone!
It has been too long since I've posted here. Got to see U2 in Anaheim a couple months ago-AMAZING! Easily one of their best, if not the best, shows I've seen. I recently got back from vacationing on the East Coast for two and a half weeks. I've been back for a couple weeks now but am still homesick. I just wanted to say hello and let Bhava and Loud One know I haven't forgotten about you guys. You either MT! I hope everyone's having a great summer. Registered for fall quarter yet? I have. Scary. Physics, Chemistry, and a Socy elective. Yikes. Hope all is well.

Wow, For reals!?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/25/jerry-brown-california-go_n_909167.html?ref=fb&src=sp

So, we, law-abiding, tax paying citizens, who barely get by, who work full time jobs while going to school full time, had our funds cut, our tuitions raised, and now the governor does a favor by spitting on our faces?

So we don't get the full grants, only 3/4 of our year, we are so far in debt, the thought of paying it off is ridiculous, teachers are being cut, jobs are being lost, yet... we have money to give to the illegals!?!?!?

WTF!?!?!?!?! FOR REALS?!

Did I have to watch servicemen die so illegals can have our rights and money!?

AND GUESS WHO IS SUFFERING THE MOST!?
http://www.christianpost.com/news/race-wealth-gap-widens-after-recession-52892/#.Ti92qu03Xs4.facebook

Hispanic Americans. TAX PAYING, HISPANIC AMERICANS. WOW! I remember those who were in class with me talking about barely getting by. Now, they get to watch the illegals reap the benefits they were denied.

Man, this break wasn't a break at all. I just realized I go back to school in less than a week now. Booooooooooooooooooooo.

I do look forward to 2 out of 4 of my classes. The other two are once a week, 6-10PM. I have a 5 hour gap between those classes. *sigh. I guess I'll be either very productive and use that time to finish my homework of those two first classes, or be very dumb about my time and... become nocturnal, and use that time to catch up to sleep.

Why CSU!? Why must you have such weird schedules for the summer!?

Living Off the Grid

I met Jonni McActeer a few years ago. I try to see her at least once a year. She lives alone on a self-sustaining farm. She is completely off the grid. No electricity / no cell phone reception. Most everything is run by solar power and a generator when absolutely necessary. She has a solar powered golf cart that she drives around the farm. She lives alone with her beloved standard poodle Osha. The first time I stayed with her it was more than a little disorienting, but it was also very rewarding. She has a goat farm, a garden and several growing domes. She built up most of the farm on her own. She is in her sixties and full of energy, knowledge and experience. She lives off goats milk and fresh veggies and herbs she grows on her land. She is tough as nails. I was so impressed that I put together this video for her. She is currently trying to put together a learning farm to teach others how to work the land. Although she wouldn’t consider herself an environmentalist, she has figured out a way to utilize the resources around her in a very responsible and respectful way.

All Good Things Must Come to an End

I am so sad this class had to come to an end. Never, in my _____ years in college have I dreaded the END of a course. I really did enjoy every single person in this class. I do appreciate the openness and willingness to share your experiences. I learned from everyone in this class and I thank you for allowing me, as well as everyone else, to hear your stories.

(Here is my son that I always talk about. I wanted to bring him to class but I had a final afterwards)

P.S. I will be blogging throughout the summer...

Back As Usual

The class was over yesterday, but I still keep checking the blog. I read this blog more often than I check my email or facebook. I figure out that this blog has a lot of interesting issues than just a requirement of the course, and I believe it is possible because of you, all of you. Whatever you say or try to share creates interested views, and that makes me coming back as usual.
Take care.

Learning to FLY!!!

I just woke up from a six hour nap. I was up all night finishing my final papers so I was exhausted when I got home. I feel so much better.  Today was my last day of school. After today, my new life will start since I am graduating this Saturday. SOC 301 was my last class of the day. It was interesting to see the face behind the blog screen names. I hope everyone enjoys their much needed break and if you are graduating, congratulations! I will see you this Saturday.
Although, I am graduating this quarter, I have decided to continue blogging.  I enjoy reading all the insightful posts and now that I have more time, I can actually leave more comments. This video expresses how feel about starting my new journey in life. Enjoy!

Finals Week!

1 research paper and 2 final examinations left before the Quarter is over! I Cant Wait!!

Rules 4 Real Men

Rule #1 Never hit a female/woman. Even if you catch her cheating on you. Just leave her. Please remember that we are stronger then them, you can cause much damage and it is not worth it. Let us say that you beat the sh###t out of her, what did you prove? Nothing. Especially if you get back with her too.

Rule #2 When you are with a woman in a relationship, you bring your half to the relationship. Real men do not live off women. If your a house husband, that's different.

Rule #3 Do not control your woman with words or mental games. Sometimes us men do not understand that words hurt very bad. Calling your girl fat is not cool. I call my girl P.H.A.T. Pretty Hot And Tempting. If you call your girl ugly, you picked her, that means you are ugly.

Rule #4 Remember, just because you have a penis do not make you a man. You have to go through a Rite of Passage to become a man. I know a lot of professional teenagers that are over 30 years old that are not men. I do not hang with them but I do know who they are.

Final Comments on the Course!

I enjoyed taking this class. Because of the course, I took a different perspective towards writing than the usual introduction paragraph, three main points, and conclusion. As a result, this made the writing assignments a bit more amusing and less of a drag. Additionally, there was no room for jargon since the papers were short. This allowed me to really focus on writing, rather than filling. Thanks Dr. Tabor!

@MT earlier today you asked what my blogger name meant. I was having a lazy moment-I have those a lot- so I didn't want to explain. Here it goes. I am the oldest of five, I have three brothers and a younger sister. When we were younger, before my sister was born, unlike many girls I didn't like to play with dolls or other things girls played with. Though I was the oldest my brothers influenced a lot of the things I did. So we played video games, basketball, football "typical" boy things. One thing we loved to do on Thursday nights was watch the WWE (SmackDown). We were really young but we remember watching on tv great male and female wrestlers like Chyna and Hulk Hogan. As we got older we saw the WE introduce many new wrestlers among them was John Cena-back when he was in SmackDown, I believe he is currently on RAW but I'm not sure. Anyway, watching wrestling became our Thursday night ritual and John Cena was one of the good wrestlers and my brothers liked him a lot, aside from The Undertaker, me not so much. I actually grew fond of him when he released his song Right Now on the WWE Originals sound track. But the blogger name actually comes from his song Basic Thuganomics. On one of his lyrics he writes "like a broken needle, kid you missin' the point" and for some reason I feel that he refers to his lyrics on Right Now. In it he talks about spending quality time with loved ones and taking things easy. I feel that sometimes we don't do that enough and take our friends, family and significant others for granted, so missin' the point is like missin' moments that could be well spent with them. I also feel that it refers to the failure to see the simple things in life and enjoying the moments right now, but that's just my opinion. So yeah, the name came from the song lyric of a wrestler I didn't like much on those good ole' days.

Below is the video to Right Now, Enjoy.

Thumbs up

I am glad I took this class, I learned how to write to the point in order to get my message across without any unnecessary "filler" to elongate my papers. Thumbs up-MT and Writing for Sociology.

Liars...

It was about 4:35pm when I made a right hand turn to get onto Broadway Street from Central Street. I then proceeded to get in my left lane as I was going to make a left hand turn on Galleria Street. There were a few cars in front of me that were on the same left lane to make that same left hand turn onto Galleria street; including the 1992 white Toyota Camry that hit me. My lane got the Green Left Arrow turn signal so everyone proceeded to make the left hand turn. All of the cars; including the 1992 white Toyota Camry that hit me, decided to take the 1st lane closest to the left double yellow lines separating the opposite traffic lanes. As I saw that the 1992 white Toyota Camry was at a complete stop blocking the crosswalk completely and almost the intersection, still having the Green Arrow turn signal I proceeded through the intersection with about a car and a half length in front of me, taking the 2nd lane in my direction. The 2nd lane closest to the right that I chose was completely empty with no vehicles in front of me. Going about 5mph, I was about to go through the crosswalk completely, straightening out from my left hand turn being completely parallel to the 1992 White Toyota Camry at this point. As the hood of my car passed the front bumper of the 1992 white Toyota Camry, that is where the 1992 white Toyota Camry decided to accelerate without checking her blind spot and change lanes from the 1st lane onto the 2nd lane without signaling or looking and plowing straight into the left side of my vehicle damaging my driver side door, driver side rear quarter panel, and driver side rear wheel.
Right after, the other driver accused me at being at fault and refused to give me her information of driver’s license and proof of insurance. The other driver also acted very hostile to a witness who saw the entire accident and was kind enough to pull over and help. I called the authorities which was the Glendale Police Department and Officer arrived on the scene. It was not until the officer and a separate male companion of Lusine’s that showed up where she finally gave me her information of driver’s license and proof of insurance.
So apparently the other driver is saying that the witness was a passenger in my car...wow...I couldn't believe it as the other insurance agent was telling me. I'm taking this lady to court. It is so stressful to know how people can lie about something as having a passenger in the car! Wow. This is probably my best post, kind of late, but I am going through so much right now that this post was needed to get some relief.

Final Day

Well this is the final day of Soc 301. I learned so much from this class and met some very great people. I wish everyone the best :-)

About Blog

Hi everyone! I have a question about the final assignment.

If we commented on someone's blog do we need to print the story/blog with our comment under it or our comment alone.???

Also when I copied and printed mine it came out really light, is that how it should be?
Sorry just wanna make sure. Thanks.

Mother's Song

I watch Disney Junior with my son every morning and they show this video from time to time. The words are so sweet

~Dedicated to my little munchkin~

Mother's Song
a Traditional Lullaby
(read by Jennifer Garner)

My heart is like a fountain true
That flows and flows with love to you.
As chirps the lark unto the tree
...So chirps my pretty babe to me.

There's not a rose where'er I seek,
As comely as my baby's cheek.
There's not a comb of honey-bee,
So full of sweets as babe to me.
There's not a star that shines on high,
Is brighter than my baby's eye.
There's not a boat upon the sea,
Can dance as baby does to me.
No silk was ever spun so fine
As is the hair of baby mine.
My baby smells more sweet to me
Than smells in spring the elder tree.
A little fish swims in the well,
So in my heart does baby dwell.
A little flower blows on the tree,
My baby is the flower to me.
The Queen has sceptre, crown and ball,
You are my sceptre, crown and all.
For all her robes of royal silk,
More fair your skin, as white as milk.
Ten thousand parks where deer do run,
Ten thousand roses in the sun,
Ten thousand pearls beneath the sea,
My babe more precious is to me.

Hard to say Goodbye

For in my class know i had a sick dog. She just died a few hours ago and im hurting so much. To some people dogs are just dogs but not to me. Ty was my friend and a part of my family. She stopped eating today and i thought she was having a bad day. I gave her pedialyte all day instead of food, i gave her some before she went to bed. I knew she was feeling sick but i didnt know it would be her last day. She spent her day outside, i know she loved that. I just need to let it all out because im hurting and everyone is asleep. I hope i can finish with mmy finals early and come back in my room to be alone.

Challenging but well worth it

my final blog, this quarter was a challenge for me, I'm glad this is my last week. tomorrow I have three finals, so i will be up studying, I'm not a coffee drinker but i drank a grande from Starbucks. I am wide awake, reading and taking notes. I'm so proud of my two friends that are graduating next week. Great Job Ana, and Dulce, all your hard work and perseverance paid off. Yes even mom's can make it happen, what keeps us going is providing a better future for our children, it's not easy raising children, working, and attending college, so my respect for all the mother's out there that are doing it!!! Good luck to everyone in your college experience. Have a blessed summer.

DREAMS

Hold fast to dreams

for if dreams die

life is a broken-winged bird

That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams

For when dreams go

Life is a barren field

Frozen with snow.

TTh am potluck

I'm having Papa John's deliver pizza on Tuesday and was wondering what toppings everybody likes. Also, how many pizzas do we need to order to feed everybody? Oh, one more question: Can somebody bring drinks/cups? Thank you in advance!

So forgetful...

See what I mean... I posted something days ago and forgot about this blog thing again! Good Luck on your finals and remember summer is at the end of the tunnel :)

Lets Cherish Life

~ *~*~*~*~*
A neighbor I know has less than a month to live...my heart goes out to the family…..please let us all not get upset when something goes wrong in life, because at the end of the day we are still alive. Lets not take life for granted. We should be thankful, we should cherish and put value on even the smallest things we have. Let us remember that nothing can bring back health not even money. May all of you live with health and great happiness.   God bless

Final - one Post, one comment with Blog Name

When I'm stressed, board, or just overly happy about something I write. So to reflect on my weekend I came up with this. Its pure randomness so bare with me.

Limits don't exists. The mind must be pushed. Look within to find answers, and never be quick to believe others truths. Focus on what's ahead and not what lies behind. Be critical of time because it is priceless and can't be brought back. Love self more than others, in the end you will see the value of doing so. Choose love wisely, because it could lead to pains that will linger in the soul forever. Be adventurous and discover the new, for it could bring you fortune and piece of mind. Worry not about judgements it will block progress.

What a weekend!!!

This weekend has been a pain in my left and my right side!!! Having work, trying to study for finals, and finding out that there was some issues with my bank acct. I have a short temper, so I really had to step back and just breath because if not I probably would have lost it. To make a long story short I was able to get things with my acct figured out, and was able to pay my rent without being charged a late fee. Now I'm here in bed attempting to study.

LonelySaturday!

Definitely not my best weekend... I hate having to study for finals.. but it's ok Tuesday I will be done yay!!

7 Billion People!

SlutWalk LA

Today was "SlutWalk" in LA where hundreds of people marched in skimpy little outfits. The march is a response to a seminar given by a Toranto police officer telling college students that the best way to avoid getting raped is to not dress like a "Slut."

In my opinion... (and yes I am a guy)
This is just another reason for women to dress and prance around in sexy little outfits because Halloween isn't enough. If they want to get taken seriously they should have left the g-strings and fishnets at home.

what do you guys think?

In Need of Guidance...

My boyfriend and I are searching for our first apartment together. Neither of us has ever lived in our own apartment under a lease (I am not sure if living in the campus apartments at CSUSB counts). I am looking at the applications and I notice that it is a requirement to include all previous residences. We don't have anything to put in this section of the application. Does that look bad to renters? Is it sort of the same as applying for a job with no previous experience? You know how employers won't hire people if they don't have any previous work experience because they won't know if they can depend on them or not? If I haven't had an apartment before, will the renters think that I won't be reliable since they don't have previous landlords to contact? I know that people usually don't like to take chances but we aren't some young teenagers. We both having savings and he has a pretty decent job. We're both responsible adults with a child but I don't think they would know that simply from a piece of paper.

UGH!!!!!!! I'm anxious to move because my living situation now is not the best for me or my son.

What is the most important thing when applying for housing? Is the "previous residences" section EXTREMELY important?

"There but for the grace of God go I."

a useful phrase.

Men Teach Men How To Become Men

This is the final year that I'm going to act like becoming a man is a guarantee. It's not, to become a man, you must go through a Rite of Passage. I look forward to tomorrow and the next day. I'm about to call out men that I know. People, wait to you hear their response.

This poem is amazing!!!

ONLY A PERSON WHO RISKS IS FREE
by Author Unknown

To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach for another is to risk involvement.
To expose your ideas, your dreams,
before a crowd is to risk their loss.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To believe is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken, because the
greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The people who risk nothing, do nothing,
have nothing, are nothing.
They may avoid suffering and sorrow,
but they cannot learn, feel, change,
grow, love, live.
Chained by their attitudes they are slaves;
they have forfeited their freedom.
Only a person who risks is free.

i just thought i would share this poem with everyone i LOve LOVE Love the words!!! =)

One of my favorite artist

Wanted to share this because I think she is an incredible song writer and performer. She sings from the heart and it's proof that our experiences can relate to others.

Waited till the end...

I'm just going to be honest. I haven't been blogging not because I don't care. Blogging just isn't my thing. I've been focusing on my papers and assignments for all of my classes and it feels great to almost be done. I would love a break from school but I want to continue my education and finish as soon as possible. I hope everyone has enjoyed this quarter and wish you all a good luck! Summer is coming and I'm turning 21!!!! :)

Coming to an End

This year has brought me life changing experiences. Entering my senior year I have crossed many bumpy roads. Balancing work, school, and my social life has made me relies how tough life can be. I’m excited leaving college and hope that all my experiences and friends I’ve meet will be part of my future.

What is white? What is American?

By arbitrarily categorizing people by superficial traits, we create divisiveness. Almost everyone I know is mixed heritage – I am part Mexican, (Native American) Chocktaw, Cherokee, Seminole, Portuguese, African, French, Spanish, Chinese, Brazilian, Cuban (don’t think I missed anything). However, everyone in class would say I was white. What is white? The world keeps on changing and times are totally different now than they were decades ago. My wife is Irish/Italian/German, she went to Ireland and told some of the locals she was Irish. They laughed out loud, because outside of America, no mater what ethnicity we identify with…We Are American. Hopefully in the future, people will look back at these times and gasp at how ridiculous we were for fighting over random attributes like skin color or religion. It will sound as ridiculous as defining and judging people by nipple size or earlobe shape. Other than being a good base color for a painting “White” is meaningless to my identity. At some point we are going to have to learn how to forgive the past and move on with the future and learn how to support each other as human beings, regardless of national or ethnic identification. Group identification can inspire pride, but it can also create segregation.

Forgiveness, love, solutions! I am just grateful to be alive? Rise above the divisiveness. We have to come to a point when we forgive the ignorant acts of the past. Anger and Hate are Anger and Hate no matter what side they are on. We have to live in this century, right here, right now. Instead of distracting our minds with reasons to be angry, we would accomplish so much good if we engage our minds with positive solutions. Change the world! Stop fighting the shadows. Just make your world a better place?

Finishing my last paper

This quarter when by really fast. I am working on my last paper. I hope i finish today so that i can enjoy my weekend. I hope everyone is finishing up and letting all that stress out to be able to enjoy the weekend. Im ready for Monday to come so that school work will no longer be on my mind, well at least until summer school starts up.

So So Sad It Is Over :--(

There was an amazing dymanic in this class. I loved the laughter and the conversations. Thank you all. Really a fabulous class. I appreciate and send love to all of you. I especially want to thank you for everything MT. Not many classroom experiences have the power to really get inside of you and change you. I don't say this lightly. You are a remarkable person and an outstanding educator! I feel very fortunate to have been a part of it. I will never forget this class and the prfound effect it has had on my life.

With much respect and Love!

Namaste!
"For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
"To forgive is the highest, most beautiful form of love. In return, you will recieve untold peace and happiness."
Robert Muller

Heat is up in the air

Summer has not come yet, but its heat seems to light up in all MT's classes. Just like you all, I try to pull out whatever I can to blog because there is no time left.
Take care all.

Please Help

Does anyone have M.T's e-mail address?

Stand up for the LOVE!!!

Recently heard this song and it really gets my motivation going. Have a listen :)
