The circumstance in Iran are not unique. In fact, it was one of many developing countries that where used by the west, specifically the US, to engage in proxy wars with the United Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR), today this country is called Russia. There where millions and millions of victims during the Cold War, while U.S.S.R and the U.S. never engaged in a full scale war they destroyed many countries and their citizenry. So I ask that we not only remember the people of Iran, but remember the people of Vietnam, Nicaragua, El Salvador, North Korea, Afghanistan and Nigeria. The worldly hatred for America has a root cause in our diplomatic methodology of propping dictators, training para military groups to stifle oppositional groups in the expansion of "Democracy"and after they've served their purpose we leave them to put the pieces back together.

this is a well-articulated statement of that point of view. there is also the complicating fact that the citizen of many countries choose the US as the country to which they wish to migrate to earn freedom. and, too, the citizens as well as the government of the US is most helpful to other countries when it comes to disasters. thus, the complete story is not one sided: it is multi-faceted. To begin to get the whole picture in order to come to peace, all sides must be seen. Or, as I like to say these days, if my roof has a problem and I refuse to look at the flashing because I think it is the paper, I will not fix my roof. In the world situation as well as in the US, it is important as half-half intimates, to separate the PEOPLE from the Govt. In the US right now, PEOPLE on "Left" and PEOPLE on "Right" are beginning to see that BIGNESS (of gov't, of business) is for BIGNESS. Both political parties are BIG and backed by BIG - though they are backed by different BIG organizations.
ReplyDeleteOne of humanities greatest drive is the will to survive. In times of disasters our humanness is clearly observed, as human beings dismiss their politics, stereotypes to assist their fellow man. My wish is for America to reach its full potential; to use our humanness to engage the world in all social aspects the world will be a better place.
ReplyDeleteThis was insightful. You have made it obvious that I need to learn more about U.S History and Politics.
