straight (not curved) line from GOAL to OPERATIONS

the difficulty of straight line:  from goal directly to process without a "stop" in the "integration" quad:
  • the bill introduced today in Congress would simply make it impeachable for an executive branch to declare war w/o Congressional approval - it is not against this particular President - just that any President must clear war with Congress
  • the protest at CSULA last Thurs about the 80 dollar "fee" would be imposed (made into procedure) without socializing the student body (or the advisors) into what to expect or how the newly funded advisement money would do
  • a "go to your room" or a swat from a belt from a parent to a child may not explain the reasons for the need for conformity:  authoritative parenting follows the curve.  authoritarian parenting tries to create a straight line from goal to process
  • other examples?

  1. Outside of the American culture arrange marriages are a common tradition. When a young woman weds a man without meeting him she goes on a straight line from goal (young girl to be wed) to operation (young married woman living the married life). There is no curve to this tradition only a straight line from goal to operations.

At least this is how I understand it. What do you think?

  2. oh, great example. food for thought.
I guess in those cultures there is such a STRONG socialization into that operation, that while it does go in a straight line, the heart comes with it because one has been trained that is the only way.
Hmmm I wonder if it could be said that traditional (mechanical) cultures can indeed work much more with the straight line when supplied by the "elders" to whom we all would give respect. Of course, the Lakota tribe, sitting counsel with the 'talking piece' is actually using the formal process of checking out the feelings from the "go with the flow, informal" quad.
    interesting to contemplate.
