Hi everyone! I'm interested to know what some of the other people in our class plan to do with an education in Sociology. What fields will you be going into? What do you hope to accomplish with your knowledge, the concepts and skills?
Great question. How about you construct a little questionaire that we could put up as a "Vote" here. What are the categories? You create - then you can use it for a paper.
Here are some questions I constructed for a survey, feel free to add to it or make them better:
After I get my degree I plan to do the following: Go for a minor Get my Masters Earn a Phd I’m done with school I plan to work full time
With a degree in Sociology I’m mostly interested in working for: The government Law enforcement Educational setting Health care Private Business/Programs other
I’m mostly looking to work with: The elderly Children Teens Families None of the above All of the above
I'm not sure. I want to focus on minors and their issues. I'm open to anything. I want to work full time and enjoy what I do. If you have any suggestions please let me know.
I love studying sociolgoy to me it's really interesting. The way one of my mentors explained it to me when I was deciding was that sociology is the study of people from the outside in. I currently work in the social work field. I like working in the field but I chose sociology as my major because it seems like there might be more options. After graduating though I plan to get my masters in social work and get licensed so I can be a licensed therapist. However, I'm open I would like to also work with non profit organizations or maybe even the government or soemthing like amnest international. I guess I'll just see where life takes me!
i really want to go to law school. and possibly get into being a DA thats my number one, but if that does not pull through i def. want to get my masters, looking to get it in poly sci and looking at maybe working in the government.
I plan on getting into the Soc. Master's program. I'd like to work on programs for children in a non profit organization or some sort of research/ program development company. I like the education/ "children and teens at risk" aspect of social services. Do you have an idea of what you'd like to get into? I'm curious...
I plan to use my sociology degree to counsel others (more specifically women and abandoned children). In order to fulfill this passionof mine...I'd like to receive a master in rehabilitation which is a degree that allows me to help women and children intergrate back into society through education. Helping them find housing, finacial support jobs etc.
I plan to get my BA in sociology so that I can apply for a Deputy Probation Officer position with the La County Probabtion Dept. If not, I hope to be a social worker.

actually iam a IT student so dont know anything about sociology..so i was hoping that if any one can tell me how sociologist really work?i mean how do they really reach the nature of problem?the working environment,the methods they use and anything about sociologist's professional life?
I plan to enter law enforcement field. I took sociology hoping it can help me better understand why one might become a criminal. understanding how society plays a HUGE factor on individuals lifes has helped me alot.
