Fear of change

I lead a certain kind of life, I think in a certain pattern, I have certain beliefs, and i dont want those patterns of existence to be disrupted because I have my roots in them...... Im I fearing change? or I'm I fearing to loose my identity?

  1. Everybody is afraid of the unknown, I am also afraid of change. We all feel certain n secure of what we are used to . But keep in mind that change is inevitable, we NEED change.

  2. I think our identity is always changing. We are not the same now from when we were children, teenagers or young adults. I think some of us are afraid of change, afraid of the unknown. When we are comfortable with something we usually do not want to change it, but then you don't want to be stuck in the same place for fear of change.

  3. i think is both! you need to let go of the fear you feel and don't let that keep you from learning other experiences.

  4. Only change if you want to and if you think its for the best!!!! It's good to learn and have new experiences and with that change is inevitable, but dont let anyone mess with your beliefs, do it because it comes from within.

  5. It seems to me that you are fearing both. I understand you have a sense of your own identity and don't want to loose your roots along the way, but like lolalaloca said change is inevitable. And just because some changes may occur whether you like it or not, don't see it as a negative thing because that change could actually end up being better for you. I also agree with boo2 in regards to our identity always changing. I think that's how we as individuals learn and grow as a person.

  6. Both! do what you feel is best, we are all afraid of change sometimes in our lives, you might just have to take a gamble on life changing experiences and see where it may lead you.

  7. i think you are affraid to loose your identity. i mean, change happens whether you notice it or not.. it happens all the time, everywhere, but your identity is something that you have created for years now, it is kind of hard to break those patterns when it took you years to build. your identity changes as you grow and mature, but the foundations, morals and roots stick with you forever!

  8. I have been thinking a lot about fear lately especially after the paper assignment. I told a friend the other day that my greatest fear is choosing some direction for my life and then feeling dissatisfied. But I think it has to do with fear being a mask for something else. Perhaps fear of failure. Because it seems like inaction due to fear of failure is basically a fear of change.
