Social Awareness
Hello Soc Majors, Quick question --what do you think of "Social Awareness" and how does it fit into your world as an American? I know--- some of you are saying WHAT...???? I'm curious...I mentor young people in South Central and would like to take back the views of my peers. Thank You... Peace...

I worked non-profit for a while for couple of different outreach programs similar (at least it sounds like it to me) what you're doing.
ReplyDeleteIt really depends on the individuals as I've learned that even in an ethnic enclave, personalities, trust issues, never being outside a 10 block radius, and so many other factors came into play that I thought these kids were not aware of anything other than their immediate peers and violence that they grew up around.
It's a hard thing to do and I say teach them what you know, be positive, and always leave a great impression. Nothing feels better than being greeted by an adult who remembered what you did for him/her 20 years ago.
