Food for Thought...

My SOC 348 professor showed the class this clip last quarter and I instantly loved it. I really hope everyone appreciates what he is saying and is captivated enough to watch the entire presentation....

  1. Interesting video. However, as one who studied sociology, there is a vast gap in whiteness. According to the 2000 census, whites averaged 66K a year. Remember, whites are the largest in population in America numbering close to 200,000,000 while the rest are minorities or other. The top 10% of America hold over 60% of America's economy in their pockets. And the top 1% hold almost 75% of the 60% of all that money. 99.99% of the 1% are white. Don't forget about the midwest, southerners, and whites in the middle of nowhere ancient Oregon Territory areas where the median income in 18K a year. We make more money on unemployment than those whites working real, full time jobs.

Other than that, I think he had a lot of important things to say especially about the police.

  2. He's very smart. He definitely says what lot of white people need to hear about White Privilege, the purposefully invisibility/normality of Whiteness and the responsibility for our history.
