Mexican language (Portrait)

Hi everyone. For my portrait paper I want to write about Mexican language. I always thought only Mexican speak Spanish but by doing research and speaking with people of Spanish decent my perception to this type of group (Mexicans) changed. I just want to know if this an legitimate topic for the assignment.

    I kinda forgot what the paper was about. the topic sounded interesting. My grandmother was born in 1800"s in New Mexico she didn't speak any english.I don't understand how in the world she got thru. People have become very relax, and somewhat lazy not learning english. our society has accommodate immigrant who don't speak any english.
