"framing" the observation paper

remember you can "frame" not only in your expectations, but also in what this is NOT. This is NOT football practice. This is NOT a baby shower. This is NOT a coffee clatch. This is NOT even a gym class - to you, what is it NOT? that will allow you better to see what it is. And if you keep crossing off excess words, you have the room to "lift" it to this more sociological level.

  1. I wrote down my expectations before I went to my desired location and I realized that my expectations didnt really match with what actually was observed. So it is a good idea to frame the better in the "was NOT".

  2. oh, but also use your "way off" expectations - that is information, too! You had some stereotypes - where did they come from? that is information.
