There has been a lot of posts about what we can do to be happier in life but nobody has mentioned money as a solution. Ccan you really be happy without money ?

  2. Money can be a great contribution to happiness. But would you rather be poor and happy, or rich and miserable?

  3. So is there a balance. I think both can be achieved as long as our values are not lost in between.
For example to what extremes are you willing to achieve money? if those extremes contradict with the values that are important to you (not the ones imposed unto you) then you could be miserable. But if you follow the so-called "American Dream" and achieve money without degrading yourself then why not be happy?
Sure money is not the happiness to everything but it buys you health, saves you tuition headaches and it makes life easier to live with.
So pretty much what i'm trying to say is you can have both. Happiness is something one makes for themselves not what others define as happiness.

  4. When I think of money I always say to myself "Live within your means" Like that even if you have a lot you try to keep it simple.

  5. You shouldn't be afraid of money; you should be wary of people who use money for evil. Yet, you can live in abundance but you have to learn how to be grateful for what you have. Money can help you but it is not the most important thing in the world. First, start with self acceptance and find out who you want to be. Then become friends with money, so together you can make great things happen. Not just for you though, help others and give. I agree with llovely, that there has to be a balance which values and morals can help you with. But you can definitely be happy without money.

  6. Money is not a necessity for happiness, unless you're materialistic. If you are under that impression, my suggestion is to read Walden by Thoreau or Capital by Marx. Both greatly affected my perspective on money.

  7. I've lived in a lower class environment and now I am in an upper middle class environment... and I have to say that life was better and happier when we lived in a lower class environment... now my family is spread apart, everyone is always asking for loans.. yes having more money has allowed us to do so much more for the less fortunate but we are not as happy as we used to be.
