I really do think writing is my weakest point. So instead, I share this with you. I think it's pretty brilliant. I hope you think so, too. And don't be deceived by the first 50 seconds, it gets really good (and crazy) after that.

EXCITED !!
So, this is my first time blogging and I'm very excited. Problem now is I don't know what to write. Hopefully as time progresses I am able to express my thoughts and ideas freely.
mixed feelings...
first week of school was not as stressful as I thought it would be, I'm interested in the classes I'm taking this quarter. on my way to my dear friends Daughter's services, she was only 11 years old, she had so many complications during her time on earth. this is the kind of passing is very sad, but was expected, know she is whole in heaven, jumping and playing like a normal child should....
upset about the shooting in Montebello this Monday so much madness in this world, upset at the person that passed he should have not had a gun, and the cops could of shot him below the waste, he left a daughter behind, and I know his brother well... We never know what battles individuals are going through.....sad

YO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi everyone! I am posting this prior to going to sleep. I just wanted to get this off my to do list. See ya!
Intro! ;)
Hello, everyone. I'm actually on certain blogs commenting like crazy all the time, with about 3 old ones of my own, so this is just another avenue to spout more nonsense, on my part, and get graded for it! :D
Good luck, everyone
Good luck, everyone
Not Much Into Blogging
Hello to my fellow classmates... Im a first time blogger, so let's see how it goes=)
Creativity- are you prepared?
Blogging?!?! Such a modern twist to such a traditional subject. I'm excited for this class and the journey I'm beginning with all of you. I especially like the video shown during the first class (even though the presenter thought he was funnier than he really was). The part that stuck out most to me was when he said something along the lines of we have to be prepared to be wrong in order to be creative. I found this to be particularly interesting because I couldn't think of a single time during my 26 years on earth where going against the majority was encouraged. I was wondering what everyone's take on this was, do you remember when you stopped being creative? or do you feel you were brought up in a setting that encouraged creativity?
New To This
Hello all! I am new to blogging, but I look forward to posting from time to time. I also look forward to getting to know all of you. Let's make this quarter fun :-)
First time for Everything...
Hi everyone.. This is my third year at CSULA and I am really excited for this quarter.. I am looking forward to joining a sorority but I still don't know which one.. I'm pretty excited! And just hoping to pass all my classes so I can be able to graduate next year..
First Time
Hi everyone. I have never written a blog before. I know people share ideas, thoughts and opinions on their blogs. The blogs spread knowledge and teach new things. I am ready to enjoy something new.
Excited about this quarter
This is my last quarter at CSULA. I feel good but at the same time I am scared. I am not quite sure what I am going to do after I graduate. For now I am going to enjoy the rest of my quarter.
First time Blogger!
I was a little confused at first but we'll see how it goes...
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday!!
How to post music
go to YouTube ... search for the music you like .... find the embed code ... copy the embed code and, then, do this: switch from the "compose" tab to the "edit html" tab and dump (paste) the embed code: VOILA!

My Final
Class has ended and I will not have an opportunity to share my sentence, unless I do it here. Yes I brought something to share with the class today, but I became shy so I did not read it. It is not a poem; it is simply a sentence I wrote on a journal last Saturday. Before I share it, I will tell you how it ended up on my journal.
Last Saturday I was at a funeral. He was only thirty four years old and his death impacted me in different ways. The death topic had been in my head for a while. Just two weeks before that, I had attended the funeral of a seven year old boy. I was not sure what to do with all of my thoughts and questions so I picked up an old journal, sat in the living room sofa, and began to write.
It all went well for a few minutes. Then a broom got in the way. My mom started sweeping and it seemed to me like she wanted my attention. The more I ignored her, the harder she swept. Finally she said, "This house is filled with dust; and look at this table, if we don't clean it, the wood will be ruined." I was not sure what she was talking about. The house appeared clean to me. Plus I did not understand why she did not bother my brother, who was watching T.V. in his room. I was writing! The point is, she interrupted something that I felt was important for meaningless cleaning. I had become irritated by then and I ended my writing with something like this:
"Clean all you want, but no one will care when you are six feet under."
I feel that many times we do things that do not matter. We focus on things that we believe are important, but they have no meaning. I am not saying that one should not clean her house, but in my mother's case, the house was not dirty. Yes, there was some dust, but who cares? There are more important things out there. There are things that we enjoy, but rarely do. There are things that we do not enjoy, but we make them routine. Why? I say we invest a little more time in what we love.
This short thought is dedicated to Herson Herrarte (2003-2011) and Miguel Sanchez (1976-2011).

Fun Final Flease
..I miss the anonymity I had ;|
Dear MT: I'm not sure if you have plans already set for the final, but I was thinking maybe we could get some kind of democracy in action by having us, the students, suggest and vote on what we can do. Yay? Nay?
Some suggestions:
-recite sociological poetry (I like)
-sociological related film
-meditation
-potluck
-party
-circle pea talk
-"phantom" final, as in, let's "imagine" having a final with full attendance & foolery.
If there isn't enough feedback from the class, I'll stick to whatever happens ;/
Sincerely, Dan

Spin Class
This reminded me of Tabor's spin class that she was talking about in class today. Just for laughs : )
Need clarification with final paper
I am confused...do we need to number the title page? I know we do not have to number the abstract. Someone please help.
Meditation
Want to thank MT for Tuesday meditation. Was extremely needed for me and im sure for others as well. Highly recomment to check out other videos on youtube from the same individual.
Ha! a link on not-knowing
here, just as we were discussing. and the following 3-5 posts can help on this last day prior to final paper.
See you at 4:20 to hand in the papers - you can give it to a partner if you want to skip class - but it must be hard copy (not an email attachment)

Final: Due Mar 10 in class
One paper that will lift off from all 6 papers - combine key elements into one work. Do not write it as if in answer to an assignment, i.e., "... in my second paper I ..." Write it as if you are composing it in order to express your view of behavior, your own and that of others, as your view does or does not coincide with academic theories.
- 1 title page (single spaced, same font as paper, centered:
Title, then Name (not CIN), then Date, then Tabor Soc 301, - Next page (unnumbered): 1 double-spaced "Abstract" - at least 3 sentences. use Rule 13: one sentence/paragraph. Abstract is not indented and is left-justified.
- 4 pages of text maximum. Do not "pad" - if you can complete the task in 3 pages, stop.
- page 5 is References - if need be, text can "spill over" onto top of page 5. Then References are at bottom
- at least 3 references, proper ASA format; take care with web references (you need a "source").
Link to guide on this blog, top right. - Triple check that first sentence: make it sing
- Proofread all
- Follow all the grammar rules - unless you are very clearly breaking them, with purpose
- Use Rule 17 - or I will.
- Use Rule 19: I see conflict, I see consensus, and I see that people symbolically interact.
- Use Rule 22 at the end of your paper. End with a bang.
- scale
.5 snappy title
.5 use of title in opening and closing
.6 grammar
.6 clarity of argument - does the paper progress abd hold together, without redundancies
.6 "punch" - does the paper illuminate the world other than the obvious
.6 does the paper follow the assignment
.5 does the paper follow ASA format in design and citation style
___ = 3.9 points

Page numbering, easy
make two files: one file for title page and abstract. one file for the text - that way you can easily insert page numbers starting at page 1
final - write it as if YOU decided on this topic
not as if I asked.
the 6 sides of the cube:
1. bottom, the foundation, the floor: this is a "natural law" - something you believe about how the world works. e.g., love makes the world go round; education is power; karma operates; effort pays off. what is YOUR operating belief? Where did it come from?
2. Self: that's you - your temperament, stamina, energy, self awareness - your "Me" and your "I" - you are an individual even though you have been crafted by the social world around you
3. Networks: these are the people you see routinely - daily, weekly, annually. Your family, friends. Are your networks weak or strong? Etc.
4. Social Struture: what are the social operations, procedures around you?
5. Change: all of this lives in change
together those five give you the top:
6. Your vision
You might wish to use this schema in putting together your earlier works. Remember you do not have to repeat what your said - unless you want to. You need not even agree with what you previously said. Write from now; write like you decided to articulate the way you understand yourself and others. Where did it come from?

Writer's Block
Wow, I am having the biggest writer's block... I cannot even form the first sentence. Anyone else having the same troubles or better yet had the same issue and overcame it? Please help!
simply curious.
I noticed the paper is out of 3.9. Does that mean it is equivalent to the grading on the previous papers or will this paper be worth more than the others and affect our grade the most?
I saw this 2 years ago and i could never forget it.. enjoy!!

Class is in the classroom
someone said I said it was in the Library - but no, it is in the classroom. I do not know where the notion of class-in-the-library came from.

Are there "right" and "wrong" cultures or are they just different?
In India, all women must confront the cultural pressure to bear a son. The consequences of this preference is a disregard for the lives of women and girls. From birth until death they face a constant threat of violence. See the project at http://mediastorm.com/publication/undesired
Just when finals are approaching you're SO POPULAR.
Do you ever notice that you are sought after when things at school are at their worst?! Let me break this down for you: I have 6 papers to write, and it has been nearly impossible to focus as I'd rather do something else anyway. So I finally muster up the will to begin-- my bestie calls and asks, "what are you doing?" Being the altruistic person that I am (0r a natural born sucker) I made lunch for her, her sister, and baby her niece. Fast forward later in the day, the guy I thought forgot me resurfaces... let's end the non-ending cycle with him there. It is now almost 2am and my drunken friend texts me his sexual escapade of the night. I absolutely love my friends love the madness!
