Observation and Social Geology paper possibilities

Here is a new interview from the Bill Moyers show tonight, Friday, July 24

Wednesday @ 5PM the President holds a press conference on health. What is the social geology? this is one "scene" you might use as basis for your "geology" paper. Here are some foci:

• The technology of TV, Twitter, Blogs
• The time line (the Sec'y of Health and Human Services said today in answer to why so fast? "Well, we've been talking about this for 50 years.")
• The culture of opposition (them v. us-Dems v. Reps-rich v. poor-extremes v. centrists)
• The history of health care and the experience in France, England, Canada
• current status of press support. NBC MSNBC CNN ABC CBS cover the talk; FOX will not
• Big pharmaceuticals and their position LINK to PBS story from yesterday
• The specifics of the President
• The specifics of the way this will work
• The specifics of the way this will not work
• The President and big insurance co.s (link to a story)
• The population numbers we face (e.g., many senior citizens have lost a large part of their life savings, e.g., 300 million Americans)
  If you take this topic, be careful not to be general or ideological. The devil is in the details

Even if you do not choose to write about this, this televised event should be watched - as well as the news and blogosphere response.
