Projected Population Estimates

The current (2009) world population is estimated to be 6.8 billion with a projected increase to 7 billion in 2011, and 8.1 billion in 2025 ( http://www.prb.org/). I can only help but wonder what this increase in population will result--more problems. I can't help but imagine, and i'm not being a pessimist here, that this means continued wars, poverty, inequalities, etc. What do you all expect from such drastic population rises?

  2. most predictions include that whites will be a minority everywhere. the US will be largely Spanish and Catholic and European countries will be majority Muslim. If we continue with the patterns ongoing under the current and past administration, the US will be a country of a very few super-rich (of all races) and the vast majority poor. Small business will be squeezed out for giant corporations. It is time to wake up.

It is time to wake up because the alternative is a world-full of enlightened individuals with race irrelavant, peace consciously sought be each, and personal choice and responsibility prominent.

  4. unsure about the population and education comment. in 1970 the population was 1/2 of what it is today and a college education was more rare. an M.A. or a PhD was very rare. Your generation's future is what YOU make of it.

  6. I agree with 300z and MT, we can already see the differences. When I was younger the neighborhood that i live at in pasadena had more small business and then they got big business in the area. altadena, which is the city right above pasadena, did not really have big business. they recently started making a little shopping center and now everyone goes grocery shopping to this new grocery and the family that owns a grocery store that has been there ever since i can remember is doing really bad in business...
