Politics in the classroom

There is a debate afoot about politics in the classroom Most agree in principle that teachers' politics do not belong in the classroom because the teacher has inherent "power" to influence.   Thus, three questions - comment here.
1.  do we sense the presence of teachers' politics in the classroom
2.  do we feel they represent one "side" more than another "side" and
3.  do we think politics have no place in the classroom.

  1. I think that teacher politics should be left out of the classroom because since they are an authority figure to the students most students will end up choosing the teachers side. I believe that most teachers will defend their political points of view more than the others, and this is why I believe students may choose the teachers side rather than having to conclude on their own.

  2. Teacher and politics do not mix in the classroom. To me it already seems as though teachers are already assigned to one side, so when they talk they are only speaking from one point of view. Students should be able to make their own decisions and not have to be influenced by their teachers whom are suppose to be leading them the right way
