This is a sad reality for our future generations.... however, I do not believe that the LAPD boot camps tactics are effective because there is no positive reinforcement. They break these kids spirits and self confidence, which may result in these same teens becoming continuous offenders.
It is a harsh reality, but you are right. Even though this program is designed to provide troubled teens with positive reinforcement, this tactic does not always work. Knowing certain individuals that I grew up with I can say that it is ultimately up to them to want to change. Although there are many people trying to help troubled teens succeed in life, if they aren't willing to help themselves, it is impossible for others to help them through their journey in the hope of becoming a better person.
