..I miss the anonymity I had ;|
Dear MT: I'm not sure if you have plans already set for the final, but I was thinking maybe we could get some kind of democracy in action by having us, the students, suggest and vote on what we can do. Yay? Nay?
Some suggestions:
-recite sociological poetry (I like)
-sociological related film
-meditation
-potluck
-party
-circle pea talk
-"phantom" final, as in, let's "imagine" having a final with full attendance & foolery.
If there isn't enough feedback from the class, I'll stick to whatever happens ;/
Sincerely, Dan
Great idea! I put up a poll with your options. People can comment here with detail. On film, e.g., do we want to watch a whole film - or people would bring in film recommendations and talk it through or even play a scene or trailer.
ReplyDeleteIf it is something person by person (e.g., poems) each person could have 2-3 minutes and we'd be able to fit it in.
On your anonymity - ha! well, you can write me and be re-invited and pick a whole new screen name if you choose to keep blogging. :)
ReplyDeletepotluck sounds awesome! :0)
ReplyDeletePotluck and movie sounds great..
ReplyDeletemovie! :)
ReplyDeletePotluck and love sounds good
ReplyDeleteCircle Pea talk sounds like a good option, i miss the meditation day so i think we need a time to relax during this week of finals.Potluck sounds good also. Whether ever we do i know we are going to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to vote guys on the poll options!
ReplyDeletesociological firm and pot luck!!
ReplyDeletefilm*
ReplyDeleteif film and potluck: we'd have to get there on time and start on time: 4:30-6:30 could fit in a film. Has everyone seen "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?" It's great, but 3 hours long! It's a free download on Netflix, by the way? What other films (shorter) would be ones we could "vote for" if FILM wins this poll?
ReplyDeleteA long time favorite film of mine is "The Butterfly Effect" not sure if its a sociological film, but it shows how some decisions in life can result in different outcomes in the future.
ReplyDeleteIs the pitluck for sure? If it is we need to decide what everyone is going to bring. Let us know MT.
ReplyDeleteIt's Saturday - let's give it another 1/2 day. It appears only 11 people are looking at the blog. Do these 11 people want to feed 26 people?
ReplyDeleteDo we eat and pass the green pea?
Do we eat and watch a movie? Which movie?
DO we eat and do "poetry" and sociology?
let's decide at 2PM -ish
That is true we have no another way of communicating to those who don'g look at the blog. So it would not be fare for just some people to bring food and not the others.Lets hope we get more people to check the blog. Well good day to all those who do check this blog.
ReplyDeleteI'll write everyone to look at the blog.
ReplyDeleteLiv3 yer Lif3 - some of my film students wanted me to like "butterfly effect" - so they're with you. I couldn't stand watching it myself: so negative! I'm sure it must have something good at the end ... ???
Have you guys heard of "I Heart Huckabees?" It's a philosophical comedy. It's somewhat sociological... I think.
ReplyDeleteI love I heart huckabees. but who has a copy?
ReplyDelete10 PM. Time for a decision. I think we should do this: recognize that WE are just as entertaining and educational as a film.
ReplyDeleteWe sit in a circle with the pea and with the goodies that "potluck participants" wish to bring. Those who have not even read the blog will be asked to contribute a dollar or two to those who have brought stuff so that the price will be spread around.
Those who brought in some "sociological poetry" can do that - in the circle with the green pea.
Those who love certain movies can say why - like "I Heart Huckabees" - or whatever movie.
Everyone will have a name placard.
I don't want to cook so 'll buy five lottery tickets and we'll all write down the numbers and we all win if we win. Anyone else can do this, too.
What do we think of this as a solution?
sound fair! I am not good at "sociological poetry" so I will bring something to class.
ReplyDeletewell sociological poetry is a contradiction in terms. I read some poems that seemingly had NOTHING to do w Soc., and then related them to Soc. tomorrow, let's see if some ppl say what they want to bring.
ReplyDeleteI'm in for the lottery tickets!! Woo hooo! Who wants to be a millionaire!? Haha!
ReplyDeleteI don't know of any good poems or movie so i am kind of lost on what i could contribute to the class. Could you help me out MT? However i could bring chips for our potluck i take the bus so i can't carry a dish around.
ReplyDeletechips - or fresh, washed celery sticks!
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of sticking with soc'l poetry because on last Tuesday we said we'd do that Thursday and then I forgot! and I know some ppl had brought some stuff in.
Also, while we COULD watch a movie, this is the last time we get to speak from our hearts and minds to one another.
ok - start laying out what you MIGHT bring.
ME: Lottery tickets.
I do have a copy of "I Heart Huckabees," but the idea of interacting sounds better. I'll contribute money for the potluck.
ReplyDeleteI will bring cookies
ReplyDeleteSorry to read this late but I will defenitely bring in something for the pot luck. Chips and soda sounds common so Im opting for something else. Maybe fruit, maybe jello or a dish. See u guys there!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking, I hope someone thinks of the napkins and plates!
ReplyDeleteill bring lotterey tickets!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning everyone!
ReplyDeleteI will bring a cold pasta salad. Either macaroni or tri-color pasta. Best final ever!
Have a beautiful day=)
Excited for pot luck...I will bring the plates and napkins NJ. Good thing you pointed that out. Looking forward for tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI will bring chips =)
ReplyDeleteHello All!
ReplyDeleteChange of plans I will be bringing in a pie instead of the pasta.
See you tomorrow!
I haven't decided what to bring just yet. But i will definitely contribute:) See you guys in 14 hours.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely contribute. I do not know what I will be bringing.
