someone said at the end that we could use the chat itself as an "observation" paper - well, technically speaking you HAD TO go to the chat, so it is disqualified on those grounds. But it would be interesting to use it as a foundation for the HB social geology paper.

Does color skin really matter?

I was reading Pacman's post and it only made me think about our color skin when he said if the police would have treated them different if they were African American or Latino? It is sad to say but I believe that we still live in a very racist society, where people go by your color skin and decide what treatment you are going to receive. The majority of the time police officers target more African American and Latinos. Being a white person is a privileged and being a person of color is a big disadvantage in this society, where supposedly discrimination and racism does not exist anymore.

4th of julk..drunk as hell in public

me and my buddies had a beach set up, we had two huge speakers...bumpin loud music. we also had a bbq grill, but the best thing about the whole trip was we were drinking beer on the beach openly and the cops did not even bother us as a matter of fact they requested us to play the song bad boys!!! the group consisted of mostly white people i wonder if it would have been different if it as a whole bunch of hispanics, or blacks that were drinking openly an playing loud music?

We should do more

Our group realized that we did not put "we do" but rather "we should" because what we are currently doing is not enough. Some things we should do are legalize gay marriage, take the budget crisis more serious, and rethink our current education system.

Blogs in the classroom

As students in the high-tech age, we should be exetremely thankful for the constant improvements in internet technologies. Not only may we access to lots of information to satisfiy our intellectual curiosity or the quest for knowledge, but also we are benefited by the great enhancement in the learning and extracurricular interaction among our fellow students via the blogging acitivities.

For instance, red/rose was lost as to the thesis of the final paper in our 301 writing class and asked for help by posting a blog at 1:44 on 6-4-09. Seven minutes later at 1:51, spirit offered the answer. How amazingly prompt and efficient !

Classroom blog is more than online journal or diaries, it is a great facilitator in bridging the gap between outside learning and in-class discussion.

Need to Relax!!!

What happen to the forty work week? We American are working longer hours. And it doesn't seem that the salary is going anywhere, only the taxes are going sky high.
As for myself I work sixty hours a week. I am on the computer all day. And still I don't have time take a breather. What Happen!!! I hope everyone takes time and relax over this Memorial Weekend. Please give thanks to the men & women who volunteer their service to protect this country.

Right to Vote

I am on a roll! We voted on 5/19/09; I was glad that people went out to vote, however I was somewhat disappointed that only 19% of Californian excercise their right. We had to send a clear messages to our beloved Governor that propositions were a joke.

FTF's (Full Time Fathers)

I seem to have a theme going on here with my blogs (mothers now fathers) but, I wanted to salute the men who take on the role of what is called "womens work" and stay home to raise the kids.

Ladies, there are good men out there. These men go unnoticed. They have set their pride and masculinity issues down to take on the hardest job in the world (raising their kids-sometimes another mans kid). They are changing diapers, making lunches, answering all of the "but why" questions and reading bedtime stories, (women have done it for years).

As Fathers Day approach, let us not think of all the negative stereotypes we hear about the "no good man" with babies by different "baby momma's", paying no child support. Let's celebrate those men who don't just phone in their fatherhood or send it in a monthly check. Let's salute the FTF's.

If you know any of these men, (your father, brother, husband) give them a shot out on this post.
