Thank you for coming. And thank you to President Obama for asking me to deliver this year's speech. We're going to make some history today.
You know, it was just a year ago that we announced our economic plan for 2009. We said we were going to turn around the recession. We said we'd create jobs. And we said we'd do it in 12 months. What happened? We did it in three. It was the most successful period in the history of the United States. And 2010 is only going to be better. How awesome is that?

(APPLAUSE.)

How did we do it? Simple. We made a stimulus package. It had the most features of any package we've ever created—more jobs, more money, more everything. We could have stopped there. We could've said, Hey, that was great. Let's go do something else. But you know what? It wasn't enough. The American people deserve something even better and more revolutionary.

Procrastination - again

Well, it's the time of class and I have not done anything with regard to my paper that is due next week. I was hoping to have a rough draft done by tonight. I guess the feeling that I have is that either I'm not going to do a good job and/or the task is going to be too difficult. Well, the important thing is to get it done, and to learn something about writing, and my unique writing characteristics, such as why I don't like to write, and/or why I procrastinate. It's funny, Monday I said to myself that I can at least come on to this web site and blog about something, instead of waiting until the last day. However, here it is Thursday, and I'm just now blogging. Well, at least I did it.

The Weather

I have been enjoying the weather all day. Where I work I can see the snow on the mountains. What a view! It is so relaxing and calming. So enjoy it because rain is coming our way! :(

R.I.P. Howard Zinn

Howard Zinn was the author of the world-acclaimed A People's History Of The United States, a professor, a participant in the American Civil Rights Movement, and a giant of Political Science. A Peoples History blew the top off of a lot of things that weren't taught to us in school about the history of this country, and gave people a lot of dark information about the negative and tragic aspects of many things this country was built on: violence, imperialism, abuse of power, slavery, oppression and economic, class and race imbalances. The best part about this text was that it was comprised of many first hand accounts and stories from people that had never had their voices heard before. This book has come to be used as an alternative to textbooks in universities and classrooms around the world. Zinn also taught, for a time, at Spellman College, a Black University.

No right way to write

I have never had a strict way of writing papers. I don't follow a methodical formula, and - so far in my educational career - it seems to have worked for me. However, this quarter I'm taking a course in which the professor wants the paper written following a strict formula... and I do mean that every step of the process has to be turned in individually. It's cramping my style!!!

I can see how his formula could work for some people, so I'm not criticizing it. Furthermore, I know he's trying to help. However, I think I've come to the realization that there is no right way to write, and that the same product can emerge from many different processes.

Now that I've decided that there is no right way to write (and thus, there can be no criticism), I'm interested to know: how do you tackle the writing process? Are you formulaic, or all over the place like me? Has that process changed much over time, or have you stuck to your ways?

journal found

Found a journal i was writing in the 5th grade. So hiloarious the problems I thought I had then. Or who i liked and what I was thinking. It was so interesting to see how my mind worked then and how it does now. Obviously it's going to be much different, but when you sit back and really think about it, the human brain is so amazing. How it develops over time. Just amazing

Sunday Morning. 10:45 am

I've been visiting this blog on a semi daily basis wanting to contribute my own but with no success. Every time I attempt to post, my mind goes blank and I throw my hands in the air with the whole thing. (Not really in the air, that would be weird) This morning is no different. So instead of trying to write something insightful, I decided to  write about what I've learned this weekend.
1) Looking back, eating Del Taco at 2:oo in the morning wasn't as good of an idea as it seemed at 1:30 in the morning.
2) Despite every ones protest at first, buying the french fry maker was an awesome idea. Great Fries! Everyone loved them!
3) My dog doesn't like her ear medication. Surprise, Surprise.
4) Finally, I feel bad that I never really watched Conan for the past 7 months. After I saw his last show, his highlights from the past 7 months looked really funny. How many of you say the same thing. If we were watching, they wouldn't have fired him. Don't blame Leno.
